Conservation Issues

The Boreal forest contains many resources that are often exploited by humans. These resources range from the organisms themselves, to the abiotic resources such as rivers, minerals, and oil. When exploiting resourced, there are often associated impacts on various plants, animals, and their habitats. Historically, humans used these resources without considering the future repercussion. Over-exploitation and overall human development have caused many species' populations to decline to low levels, and in some cases, extinction. Some of these human activities that have impacts on species' populations include hunting, logging, disposal of waste and human development.
