Did You Know!?

Approximately 10 percent of the Earth is covered by glaciers. During the last Ice Age, glaciers covered 33% of the Earth’s surface.

Some plant species have no inherent dispersal abilities such as the boreal herb Asarum canadense, yet after the recession of the Wisconsin glacier, A. canadense was able to move over 200 kilometers, where scientists predict that it would have only been able to move 10-11 kilometers on its own. Scientists have recorded ant species moving the seeds of A. canadense up to 35 meters.
